Hair. A political statement? REALLY??
Well I don’t know about natural hair or transitioning women being a ‘political statement’. Quite frankly I think it’s just being overhyped. Transitioning probably has to do very little with politics in the  world.
Some do it as a fashion, some cause they want a new challenge/change, cause they want to, they are comfortable etc.
In NY i was watching the news and people making it a fuss about how this is basically a black movement of some sort. To that I say: calm down. Women are realising their beauty, and if it is in natural hair - so be it. They look just as pretty as any girl with relaxed hair, no hair or a weave on. It’s not about “not conforming” to the “aspiration of beauty” that resulted from way back in the day when people were oppressed. It’s about individual human beings making a decision, and just because many might be making at the same time doesn’t mean it’s some sort of revolution/movement.

And maybe it is but I really don’t think so. The world is becoming this speculative place and countries looking for something to distract them from the recession, and they find the tiniest thing, such as this.
from where I stand, Natural hair is not political. Black women have always known and will always know that they are beautiful regardless of hair colour/texture and they have just as much freedom to change their hair as they desire.
If you really wanna talk about the dissatisfaction, then we can add so many things including: women dying their hair, bleaching their skin, putting weaves, wearing contacts, wearing make-up etc.
If other races can go about their hair business without being pinpointed and highlighted, then I think we can leave this go too.
That’s my sincere opinion.

what do you guys think…?
